"I didn't blink or break eye contact as I stared into his big, emerald eyes. I began to speak, unevenly at first, as I painfully started to stand up. 'I've been trying to tell you, Spike, that I am your friend.' I spoke softly to him. I was stood on the tip of his muzzle, high above the cave floor, but I tried to not let that cross my mind. 'I've asked you, and pleaded to you, to stop what you were doing and stop trying to hurt me.' I narrowed my gaze at him, and started raising my voice. 'Friends don't hurt eachother, Spike, and I'm sorry I hurt you, but WHO do YOU think YOU are?!'.
"Spike's eyes widened as he found himself trapped. I stared into his eyes, and continued my scolding. 'You better stop being such a bully and stop treating your friends like garbage! You have clearly been through a lot, I have been through a lot, too. But you need to stop what you're doing right now and think about what you've done. You're behaving no better than any other Dragon out there! Twilight raised you better than that! What would she say?! What would Rarity say if she saw that you had become this monster again?!'
"'Twi...light...R-Rarity...' Spike grumbled, his eyes softening.
"'Our friends, Spike, yours and mine. There was you, me, those two, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash. We were like family, Spike, all of us.' Tears were welling up in my eyes, but I held my gaze. 'As far as I know, it's just us, now. I need a friend, and you need a friend.' I softened my expression, seeing in his eyes that I was talking to the real Spike inside now. 'Come along, Spike, let's forget what's just happened and start over as friends, like we should be. Does that sound nice?'
"Spike nodded gently so that I wouldn't slip, and slowly rested himself down and allowed me to step off of him. I smiled up at him as he stood up again, 'Thank you, Spike, I always knew you were a kind dragon at heart, now let him shine through, for me?'
"He closed his eyes and nodded, and slowly, he began to shrink down in size, his greed now no longer controlling his heart. I watched silently, tears streaming down my face, as my friend became the little dragon I remembered him as.
"Little Spike stood before me, looking very sorry and hurt by his actions, and unsure about what to do next. I raised a hoof up and ushered him over, 'Come here, there's a nice hug waiting for you.'
"He didn't need to be told again, in an instant, he closed the distance between us and threw himself into my embrace, his eyes flooding with tears. 'I'm so sorry! I couldn't control myself, I'm so sorry!'
"I bit my tongue to keep myself from crying out in pain. I quickly relaxed and pulled Spike into a tighter hug, tears now streaming down my cheeks, and told him, as calmly as I could manage. 'It's okay, Spike. Everything will be okay.'"

(q)What is this?
(a-short answer) Survivor Shy, an ongoing series following Fluttershy on a mission to survive being in an Equestria in ruins, and to restore Equestria and ponykind.
(a-long answer) A project I began after binging on Fallout 3 and Fluttershy episodes. It originally began as a couple of pictures that depicted Fluttershy in an ambigious, post-apocalyptic setting. But since then, Survivor Shy has evolved into an ongoing adventure/fantasy series following Shy's journey to restore Equestria and ponykind.
(q)Where do I start? In what order do these pictures go?
(a-short answer) Follow them in any order, none of them are in chronological order, and I've left it up to you to work out the correct order.
(a-long answer) I'm experimenting with an unusual way of storytelling. I focus on drawing dramatic scenes that fit the basic theme of Survivor Shy, and once I'm finished, I write a story excerpt based on the picture. As time goes by and I complete and upload new scenes, the chronological order of the story shall become clearer, and the story shall practically write itself. Once I finish the 'last' scene of Survivor Shy, I'll see about linking the scenes together into chronological order.
(q)Why are your animated pictures so big? They make me lag!
(a)I'm a silly pony who likes massive pictures, but I'll downscale the gifs so that they don't lag so much from now on.
(q)Is this going to be Grimdark/Mature?
(a) I have no intention of drawing anything that could be classed as Grimdark. We're talking Disney-levels of blood and overall darkness. As for the written parts, I will not write anything graphic, but the written parts do have less-strict rules.
(q)Will Fluttershy die?
(a)I can't say exactly, I will say that she could die, but I'll never draw her dead or write words to the effect of "Fluttershy died". If your imagination says that she died after a certain scene, then that's your interpretation.
*End of FAQ*
This is my favourite image right now. I just love how I did Fluttershy's mane, and how the lineart-less style I went for works really well with the shading.
This concludes the three-part set of scenes. The next scene I'll create will be taking place in a different part of the timeline, like how I've worked on previous scenes prior to introducing Spike.
Spike and Fluttershy scenes are definitely going to appear, but they have to come to me first, and I feel that it is high time I started sewing some things together and pulling some pieces together.
As always, I'll appreciate your comments and feedback! I'd love to know what you're all thinking!
