(Gift) Pretty Fluttershy by Mattatatta (Gift) Pretty Fluttershy by Mattatatta
So :iconalasou: did me a favour and drew up a handy guide on tumblr for how he draws eyes. The first eye I drew under those instructions is actually in this picture, and it looked so good to me that I had to make a proper picture to do it justice.

So here we have my favourite pony looking especially wondrous, all thanks to :iconalasou:. So go and check his stuff out and watch him (Just remember your insulin and defibrillators, there is a lot of cute).

I'm glad you do. Though this is the least I could do for you sharing your technique.

I couldn't have done this without Alasou making a short tutorial on them, so really its him who deserves the credit

Maybe, but dayum you are a very talented person when it comes to art. You know the drawing on survivor shy - everypony is gone? The eyes there were also darn well made, infact it reflected everything for fluttershy in the fanfic.

Oh and by the way, I read your latest work and also again...Dayum, cant wait for the next part :D!

Ironically, I consider the eyes in that picture to be the easiest I've ever made. To capture a soul-less stare, it typically involves completely omitting black pupils and using just a darker shade of the eye's colour on the iris layer in its place. This alludes to the "glazed over" appearance while still keeping some depth. The highlights were a lightened colour picked from the whites of the eyes, and shaded in rather than drawn with a solid stroke - keeping everything soft and rather low in contrast. Contrasting colours create depth so I've learnt (or just look very garish), and depth in eyes suggests depth or life in the soul. Take away the depth in eyes (glaze them over), and you pretty much render someone dead in the eyes (literally or figuratively).

Eyes, among other things, fascinate me.
