And here we have, on the one-year anniversary of "Magical Mystery Cure" airing, the release of an epic album to commerate the occasion

From HeyLasFas comes Destiny: A Tale of Unicorn Wings, a 1 hour and 50 minute long album that tells a story of expectations, duties, and learning what 'destiny' is truly defined by. This album has been in production since July 2012 - predating even the earliest rumours of Twilight becoming a princess - and no doubt it is a fantastic day for LasFas to see his work release to the general public. It's a phenomenal album, and I strongly recommend you listen and purchase it here. While you are there, you can also consider pre-ordering a physical copy featuring artwork created by myself. So what are you waiting for? Go and check it out, get the music playing, and come back here when you're done.

Done? Excellent! All I have to say now is that I hope you like the album cover. I'm pretty proud of it, especially since the wings worked out just fine and the lighting looks gorgeous. I spent hours just doing those two things, and I hope it shows.

My role in the production of the album was simply creating artwork such as this promotional poster and the album cover you see here. I officially started working on the artwork at the end of 2013, and it has been my priority since. Today is a special day, since it marks a pretty big milestone in my art career (for lack of a better term). I never would've thought I'd create artwork for an album, not when I only started drawing in late 2011 - and drew horribly. To have come so far is a long, long measurement, which only makes me eager to see where else my growing skills will take me.

Anyway! I hope you enjoy the album, and I look forward to a productive, art-filled 2014 with you all!

I just realised... that is the same pane of glass that depicts when they defeated Nightmare Moon... and the only ponies you can make out(other than Twilight herself) are Rd and Flutters, both Pegasi... coincidence? I think NOT! Or is it? I just don't know...

You are actually mistaken, I'm afraid. I referenced a lesser-known window that appears in Season 2 Episode 1 - which also features the window chronicle of Nightmare Moon's defeat. The NMM window has a purple background and places all of the mane six towards the bottom while Nightmare Moon is placed at the top. The window I referenced represents the mane six's discovery and wielding of the Elements of Harmony, or more symbolically represents the power of their friendship.

I wasn't able to find a reference of the window I used anywhere online, so I had to screencap it several times to get it accurate. If you want to know what window I used, refer to the episode and watch the part where Discord is hopping among the windows. He sits in the "Friendship" window when Rainbow Dash tries to attack him, and Discord also dances on the depiction of Twilight in the same window.

I chose that scene over the NMM one due to its relevance to the album the cover was for. It was not about the mane six defeating Nightmare Moon or even remotely related to that. The album was focused on Twilight taking on her responsibilities as a new princess, and the difficulty in meeting her mentor's expectations while still maintaining her friendships in Ponyville. The "Friendship" window is much more relevant in that sense.

Having the glass depiction of Twilight left intact is no accident, the story the album tells is focused on Twilight, and sticks with her when the central conflict begins to grow. By this time, her friends have been pushed away from her by Twilight's overwhelming duties and the demands being made of her, which I feel is summed up nicely by having the rest of the ponies in window broken up mostly into shards.

There is a lot of symbolism pertaining to the album in this image. The window is one of the most telling symbols there, but there's plenty more to discover. It was fun working these details out when I started this project.
